Giving Tuesday

Help us fight to keep public access to the Truckee River!

We are going to be consistent on a few key items: wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit. The Truckee River is a navigable river. You have the right to recreate on the Truckee free from intimidation and harassment.

This is why Truckee River Public Waters was formed and what we stand for: a Truckee River safely accessible for all future generations.

This vision is under attack by a few private landowners who are posting no trespassing signs at the edge of the river, threatening innocent people with legal and even physical threats. Public land users have had firearms discharged in their vicinity. We have had enough of this intimidation, and we know that something precious to our community is at risk. If we do not stand up for the public’s rights, our access will be lost.

We need your financial support to keep up this work. One differentiator in this fight is resources. The landowners have the resources to bring lawyers to community events meetings to make statements confusing the public about navigability, to write cease and desist letters to legally intimidate people, and even to hire armed guards to patrol the river or bring heavy machinery to move boulders and block river access. We need resources to build a legal strategy that can counter these efforts.

Truckee River Public Waters is a fully volunteer organization. Your donations will support our efforts to build a strong community coalition with legal representation to protect our Constitutional rights to access public land.

Please consider giving generously to Truckee River Public Waters this Giving Tuesday. We will keep up the good fight for access to public land and water.
